Scuderia vs CGT -

There is a natural reaction by some to discount the Scuderia. Its discounted to the CGT by many, and then discounted as being simply based on the 430. "its just a 430 for 75k more". The markets, the kids, bike training....a bazillion things have really kept me getting some time to walk thru that Scuderia top to bottom.

Let me say unequivocably, its a total monster. if you dont like carbon, this car is not for you. carbon aint to easy to create, you need molds, finishing it is difficult. But man that scuderia is insanely gorgeous. yeah, i like the 360 shaping and look a "bit" more, but that scuderia is a major beast. im not sure you could dream up a more perfect interior, and then there is the engine bay.

You pop up that grill and lift up that engine bay ands its like a perfect sunrise. what a sight. i had a 430 and cant recall exact differences bu tthta engine, the supports, the exhaust, the carbon intakes, etc...heck the whole carbon bay...its borders on ludicrous. me? i lik eyellow calipers. i like yellow calipers that match yellow centers and the yellow prancing horse and the shield. whoever spec'd my car, the original owner or dealer, did a very solid job. im a hack. im glad they spec'd it and not me.

I'd rate that car a 9.5; only because i just loved my 360stradale shape just that little bit more would i leave it at a 9.5

a lot of guys draw comparisons between the Scuderia and CGT. again, im not talking drive-ability or performance on the street (reports and studies speak better to that)....but as awsome as the scuderia is, i personally think the CGT has it by that 1/2 point in terms of aesthetics, technology.
Its another ridiculous looking car. some guys dont like the looks too much. frnakly, it presents in person about 20x better than in photos. the carbon isnt as apparent but there is tons of it. much of it is painted. the doors are ridiculous, the airvents...the wing, the wing supports. the interior fits a bit more like a cockpit tha nthe scud; i personally really like black terracotta as a combo, though some are more into black or silver black.

as amazing as they both are, the cgt gets that 1/2 point more in my mind for a few reasons:
1. its a cgt. the whole package is just that much more impressive
2. its a 6speed - yeah, i know the f1 is really fast, but i just like 6speeds. i like controlling how well the car shifts;
3. the engine - unlike your typical porsche, or the porsche's i've owned, where all that horsepower and pop is squeezed into this little weenie engine bay...on that CGT the engine is fully ridiculous. im not even really sure what to say about it other than it could be one of the best presented, most impressive looking engines i've seen. i have no idae what 90% of the components are, or do, but its a one-off design, not based necessarily off a previous iteration. atleast i think thats the case.
4. if it were a 911, i might normally say its more approachable, durable, etc. but its a cgt where a clutch job is 20k, every carbon panel is 20k. any issues and you're out 20k. but i still think if you were in business of hammering it, it would be slightly more durable than the 430s.

can it be brought down to a money discussion? yeah, perhaps. when scuds were 100 over or more ,asking 400, 450..(i think a few sold up there), well, thats not where they should be. at same money, the cgt for me would be the easy choice. now, that scuds are more like msrp , a little more, a little less...call it 290ish...and the same mile cgt is about 350ish, more or less...thats probably good parity.

both super crazy cars. anyone that discounts the scud too easily relative to the cgt, or as just a small pop up form the 430...i thin you're mistaken. it aint no small pop up. its an entirely different world of beast than a stock 430, but, end of day, in my opinion, it comes up just a smidge short of the cgt as well.

anyway, just my two cents. some dudes asked, so i figured i'd post it.

Great write-up! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I do share your opinion about the CGT is the one, with the scuderia a close second

Keep in mind that the CGT came out before the Scuderia. About 5 years before.
But they're in different leagues IMO, MSRP for the Scud is about $285K while the GT is around $440K.

That was a good read! Great collection of cars too, I like the fact that you have a pair of GT500's and a camaro under the same roof as CGT, F40 and scud, dont see that too often...

Great comparison! The CGT takes the cake in my book too. Awesome pics, btw. Rep for you.

Thanks for the write-up Steve. Both cars are technological marvels in their own right.
