"Join Auto Express on a 700-mile roadtrip from Spain to the UK in a new BMW M5.
We've already tested the new BMW M5 both on track and on road. And yes, with a 552bhp twin-turbo V8 it has incredible performance.
But what is it like to live with and how does it cope over really long distances? Is the new BMW M5 really the continent-slayer its predecessor -- with its limited range, manic engine and firm suspension -- failed to be? There's only one way to find out: a mammoth road test from the Pyrenees in northern Spain all way back to the UK."
Thanks for posting this. All this said, I'm still not getting excited about the new M5. I had an E60 M5, and just recently got a CTS-V, but for all its technical brilliance, I'm not fired up about it. I guess we'll see how good it is when they get into showrooms, and we can drive them ourselves.

Agreed, I also had an e60 and even flew to Spain to drive it. I am not lusting it the way i did for the previous gen. My final judgement is that it's a great car when you can only have one, plus need the space and luxury of a 5er. Otherwise I would rather have a new 335 MT and supplement with a super car of some sort. Hurts to say this!
