Manks is an unknown quantity at this point
Hi All

My name is Manks, nice to meet you all.

Can I just say what a great thread this is. Green is an under-rated colour for Porsches and I can see it making a comeback. I am currently contemplating a new green 997, and it will be a classic colour.

Here are a couple more green snaps for you:

This is Lindgrun metallic.

... and I THINK this is, but I am open to offers on it being something else.

I am not sure what this is:

I am seriously considering a Carrera S in the colour of 1. above.

Manks

Manks: Thanks for the pics. Lindgrün is of course German for "Lime Green". Lime Green was a color offered by Porsche from 1974-1977 (color code 137) and Lime Green Metallic was offered in 1976 (color code L96N). Given that the cars above are all 911SCs, which didn't start production until 1978, that may not actually be Lime Green. The first car looks like it could be Silver Green, a 928 color. And that would fit with the time period. The third car could be Green Metallic, which was an earlier color, but that could be a paint to sampel job. Little known fact, the last 928 ever produced was a paint to sample Lime Green Metallic.

Silver Green

The above 911SC

Here is an other mint green p-car. But a CaymanS, it looks a bit different than the other pic with the mint green. I have never seen a p-car in that color.

Here for sale!

Uboat commander

Far be it from me to correct you if you really are a Uboat commander and hence a German speaker, but I didn't think that Lind meant lime. As far as I am aware, the translation in this context is "light green".

The 911 Targa above is definitely Lind Green and the code for it is L275. If it was the Glasurit version, the aux code would have been Y1 I believe.

As for the colour of the 928 I am not sure. Lind Green was available on the 928 according to my research, but in different years to when it was on the 911.

This one's definitely Lind Green:

The Lind colour is known variously as Lind Green, Lindgrun, Light Green and Lint Green. There were two manufacturers of Lind, Glasurit and another whose name I have jotted down somewhere.

Manks

According to each German translation I have found:

lindgrün
lime green {adj}
linden green {adj}

The car above looks like it's Metallic Green (Code 224), such as on this 1972 911:

I think you could be right about the Targa shown in the showroom above, it's a bit "greener" than Lind. But the Targa shown back view with the orange card in the back window is definitely Lind. I got the code off the owner.

Here is a useful link.

I'll trump your lightgreen with a Forest Green 930

By the way I have just got out my German dictionary and I may own you an apology. It does say Linde for lime, but I have no idea where the "e" has gone in Lindgrun.
